a bit of background
Whether you are looking for coaching, mentoring and development for individuals or for teams, you may well be asking ‘Why ask Ian?’
Well, I’ve had a lifetime - 38 years so far- of experience, as a lawyer for 22 years and then as a church leader, listening to people and considering how they might succeed and thrive. I’ve led small teams and large ones, worked with employees and volunteers, coached and mentored individuals and teams and found great joy in seeing others flourish.
I’ve started and run businesses (solicitors’ practices as a lawyer and a pub/bistro as a church!) and seen healthy churches planted and grow. I’ve also been involved in the start up and oversight of a number of charities and remain as a charity trustee to this day.
I now coach and mentor those involved in business and charity sectors, and in the church. And I love helping people find their voice, their calling and their best self.
-
If we have a vision for where we are heading and what we want to achieve then we have something to aim at
-
If we determine to achieve our vision then we can start the journey
-
If we implement the means to travel the road we see ahead, and have determined to travel, we really can reach our destination
The Philospher Dallas Willard uses the acronym VIM (as above) when looking to see how someone can really thrive. The word ‘Vim’, deriving from the Latin ‘Vis’, suggests a sense of readiness for action and means ‘force or power’. When we have vision, intention and means it does bring about a sense of empowerment to become who we are called to be and to do what we are made to do.
